Let's hope our future is less like Avatar and more like progress

Violence is never the answer.  Tolerance and diversity will enable people to live peacefully without the constrictions of supposed gender-roles.  A progressive future will allow all peoples to live as they wish and without fear from the intolerant and mature biologically to their sexual destiny.

  1. "Tolerance and diversity will enable people to live peacefully"

And you are not able to tolerate a single movie

  2. "A progressive future will allow all peoples to live as they wish and without fear"

But a single man cannot make a movie as he wish because Lara immediately will jump and protest against it

  3. Avatar deals with something, and that is an interspecies romance, if you take that to today's world you can see that actually the movie is, though not necesary pro-homo, promoting tolerance towards the preference of people, all this protest is meaningless since you are against a movie that is actually on your side

I had to repost this comment from the previous entry since you seem to ignore each and every comment that tells you why this portest is wrong, I just hope you open your eyes soon enough, i don't care if you still hate the movie, but if you will hate it at least let it be for a more coherent reason

  6. Violence isn't the answer...

BUT BEING A FREAKING RETARD ALL THE TIME ISN'T EITHER. God, go get some medication for whatever kind of fucked up thing is going on in your head.

  7. I think you just missed the whole point of the movie. I happen to be a mTf that thinks Avatar is one of the most beautiful positive movies to come out ever. Avatar is not a movie about hetero or none hetero, bi or gay...its a movie about the misstreament of native peoples by corporate greed and the miliytary industrial complex....its a movie that our Earth and all peoples need...so many other movies are zero calories and do not tackle any issues at all. I am active ib the GLBT community and a good activist needs to know what battles to fight and which not...this IS NOT A BATTLE we should fight. There are many negatives movies in Hollywood, Avatar is about hope and movement awasy from industrial abuse...please open your ears and eyes and "see this".

The future is not "Transgender, not Straight?". Transgendered has nothing to do with sexual orientation. You speak od tolerance, should that not also include: poly relationships, bi-sexual, gay, as well as hetero trans folk? I happen to be Bi, I have a friend who is trans who happens to be Hetero...what does this have to do with Avatar??? You have your battles confused...please watch this movie again and try to see the hope in it.

  9. One last note, didn't you think the scene toward sthe very end (when she was holding his human form in her arms) and said, "I see you" was a way of saying "form" did not matter? That she loved him regardless of the fact that he was a fraile human being. See "saw" him. Quite often in the trans community we date people who do not see the "true" us. Many of us do not pass well, and when someone to sees the "girl" within or the "man" regardless of their ability to pass as female or as a male...than that is always a beautiful thing. I really, really feel you have picked the wrong battle and i can say this honestly because I am a mTf. That scene made me cry.

One last note: We saw only one relationship in Avatar, why do you not think there wouldn't be any gay peoples in that tribe?? Most native tribes tend to have "gender" neutral folkm especially those who are spiritual. Again, we saw only one relationship in the movie, we should not assume there weren't any gay's or bi's in that culture. We don't see the native using the restroom, does that mean they don't have urinary tracts??? That may seem like a dumb way to put it...but it is true nonetheless.

  10. Avatar is the second highest grossing film of all time. It has been number one at the box office for four weekends in a row despite new releases.

My question is twofold - the first being, do you think this project has been successful?

And the second part - does this 'protest' help the cause of LBGT and Intersex people, or does it give more ammo to those who would like to call us insane, stupid, foolish and wrong?

Fighting for representation in artifacts of popular culture isn't necessarily bad, but I think time would be better spent fighting for representation in life. Yes, it's all connected, but this particular battle misses the point - and moreso, belittles the genuine struggle for all 'dissident' sexualities and gender identities to be recognized as legitimate.

So, as a courtesy to all people, I ask that you rebrand this cause in the name of stupidity - because stupidity knows no gender, orientation, creed or colour.

  11. por amor de deus, arranjem uma vida!!!!!
esta gente... devem achar que tão todos a dizer mal dos gays...

  12. I don't know how you can boycott this movie because a Gay relationship was not involved. I am a Bi individual, and have many Gay and lesbian films who have seen the movie, and they all think what you are trying to do is a joke.

Only one relationship was shown. For all you know (and I or anyone know) every other character could have been GLBT in the film and it wouldn't matter, they could be completely ok with it, but it was not integral to the plot.

    You need help.

Yes, GLBT awareness should be made, but not against a film that does nothing but promote understanding. Just because GLBT issues are not presented is not a reason for this tirade of hateness against a beuatiful film.

  13. I'd just like to say that your efforts to protest this offensive movie have not gone unnoticed. This piece of environmentalist propaganda touting the green agenda seeks to indoctrinate the youth of the world to accept without question the shrill environmentalist screed and their wholehearted acceptance on the Global Warming hoax! It's comforting to know that people like you aren't willing to sit back and accept this warped liberal agenda. It's bad science and bad science-fiction! For did not the Lord say in Genesis 1:28, "... and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

Stay true to your convictions and your beliefs and do not let your critics shout you down, like they do with all the other man and women of faith and conviction like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and the others who stand proudly with you. With your help and the guidance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we will one day shut down offensive trash like Avatar forever! And with the environmentalists struck down and the phony 'climate science' discredited, scientists may one day concentrate on finding a cure for that girly-man disease you're suffering from, or whatever it is you have, for which you are in my prayers.

  14. As I posted at IMdB, I am a TS (mtf) filmmaker. If you are protesting Avatar because it didn't have gay relationships, you are at best misguided in this instance. And you are not helping our cause. We are fighting for equality, not superiority. Please remember that.

  16. Homosexuals ARE superior to the breeders.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, and that is the exact kind of quote that fanatics used in Uganda to push for a bill that gives homosexuals the death penalty because of who they are. For one, I will be happy with equal and I don't think anyone is superior.

  19. I'm straight but I'm with Shannon. Also, the term "breeder" is ridiculous. People are inferior to you because they choose to have children? Sorry it's so obvious, but you wouldn't even exist without "breeders".

Also, sexual destiny? You seem to be making some kind of religion out of gender and orientation.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Even tolerance towards heterosexuals Lara? Hmmm, I didn't think you'd like that much.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Breeders are responsible for war and pollution, racism and hate. All the people responsible for those things were STRAIGHT!

  22. I will be reposting it until you actually read it and answer with a coherent response

  23. And it's a lie that the people responsible for war and pollution, racism and hate are straight, as for wars, the resposibles are those who fight in them and there are homosexuals within the army as well and they do nothing to stop the war, at least they could simply defect but they don't, for pollution it's all humanity's fault there are gays in the big companies as well don't think that only straght people is greedy, racism?, for god's sake I bet most of those whithin the cucuxclan were homsexuals trying to get attention of them, and hate is exactly what you are all excerting with this blog where you blame everything on straights

  24. You're such a hypocrite it literally makes me wanna cry.

  25. When was the last a gay nation started a war? Never. Bush the Breeder started two wars.

  26. Maan this is kinda pathetic...SICK...
There are millions of other films...now comes a pretty good one,and gays fed up with it...
Pathetic...IF U DONT LIKE IT,SHUT UP AND MAKE A HOMO MOVIE...

és a húzzatok vissza anyátokba ti balfaszok mert szánalmas amit itt műveltek...Apatejen felnőtt balfasz kis kuradékok...

  27. That film with the dudes in togas, playing with their horns, looks so much more fun, and more educational and politically inspiring, than Avatar.
If that is the future, BRING IT ON!

  28. Gender roles?

Gender roles are there because there is a difference between male and female!! Males are built genetically to be stronger, the warriors, ect while females genetically lare built to be the mothers, more emotional, and loving.

It's merely how we are designed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wait a sec Lara,

I've seen "Progress" (it's a first season episode of Star Trek:TNG if anyone was wondering)and there were ZERO homosexual relationships portrayed. Doesn't that go against your entire argument? You only see male/female couples.

Also, the way the Edo (the alien race in this episode) deal with ANY rule breaking is lethal injection. Lara, you truly believe that our culture would be a better place if anyone who broke the law was executed on the spot? That murder holds the same punishment as jaywalking?

I know the only answer I receive will be your form answer (I respect your opinion but I disagree) but I wanted to point out that this is not the "happy homosexual funtimes" you're making it out to be. Nothing but heterosexuality was shown in this program, stop making it sound like there is.

  30. I replied on that news site and I'll reply on here, you're a closed minded person who doesn't stop to even respect her own self.
I don't want to get into the logistics, or become part of this war, but really, you're harboring more hatred than you are respect.
Sexuality is not about dispute, argument, or anger. It's about being who you are, despite of diversity or hardship. Get used to it.
