Wishing everyone a very Trans-2010!

2009 is coming to a close and what a wonderful year this was!  We saw the end of the Bush Regime and America got its first really intelligent and most diverse President in Barack Obama!  President Obama is ending torture and war and all peoples in America will have access to health care.  Thank you, President Obama!

We hope everyone continues to learn and transform in 2010.   We continue to monitor the situation with Avatar with regard to the Oscars and the DVD release.   This struggle is not over by any means.  People have rights and we deserve to be heard.

  4. No offense intended by this question, but how naive are you? I supported Obama all the way, but I still didn't expect miracles from him. I must say I am disappointed. He has floundered on climate change, his lack of action at Copenhagen may have doomed future generations. He won the Nobel peace prize, and yet was defending sending in more armed personnel into a foreign country during his acceptance speech. That in itself is sheer hypocrisy.

As for this whole stop avatar thing, what, so every single movie has to have something homosexual in them? Yes I know that homosexuality has a large place in modern society, good, whatever, I don't care, great, none of my business what anyones attractions and affections are. So I see potentially, an argument that since it is a large part of life (isn't it 1 in 10 people are gay?) then therefore movies should reflect that. Thats the only argument that I could see having evidence behind it, and being viable in any proper debate.

However, that said, even if one were to make that argument, they haven't looked at the very important issue here... This movie isn't about our society, ergo, it shouldn't have to reflect on a society which it is unrelated to. Secondly, these are aliens, completely different life forms from another planet. Have you considered, that if aliens were to exist, that it may just be part of their biology that they are all heterosexual. People don't choose to be gay, its how they are, thats why EVERYONE, should accept them regardless of what their religion says. It is how you are, just like if you're black, or white, or asian etc. You can't change it, IT IS HUMAN. It is a part of us.
So, just as it is a part of humanity, that 10% of people are going to be biologically homosexual, then it might just be, given that they have evolved on a planet millions of light years away, that the aliens in Avatar could just be biologically heterosexual, you couldn't fault them for that just as much as a straight person can't fault a human for being gay.

Can I say, from a less evidence based standpoint. It is just a bloody movie, get over it, I am sure you have watched countless movies in your life where there is no gay person in it, so what the hell is your problem with this one. Avatar is a great movie, with an important message, why can't you enjoy it for what it is, instead of extrapolating ridiculous conclusions from nothing! You know I am pretty sure James Cameron didn't sit down and think "oooo, I'm going to make a movie that is going to be completely homophobic! Ahahaha!"

Why, instead of spending a vast amount of time trying to fix something that isn't broken, don't you go down to your local high school, where there is almost definitely going to be some gay boy or girl, who is struggling to come to grips with what is probably a new revelation, and who is scared as to how their friends will react? Why don't you go, give support to those people so they can grow into the human beings they were born to be instead of wasting time on something that is well and truly stupid. Look at your polls, they speak volumes, 88% of people are fine with the heterosexual theme. Even though you spell heterosexual wrong, and it is not a theme. If you completely high school English you would realize that a theme is a main idea within the movie/literature. Yes, there were some heterosexual scenes, but there are probably in almost every movie. 9 in 10 people are heterosexual, also, just so happens that heterosexuality is inexorably linked to sexual reproduction. I'm not saying that in an anti gay way, just as a fact. Heterosexuality will be present as it is required to be a visible part in nature (or else there would be no life).

I've said enough. Please stop, and try to do some good instead of making people think the gay community is as stupid as you are.

  7. I find this blog to be among the lowest of all the blogs on the intelligence scale for many reason. 1) Think about the number of characters. Now, let me remind you of this fact: "2008: CNN exit polling showed self-identified gay, lesbian, and bisexual voters at 4% of the voting population in the United States presidential election, 2008." Now, of the characters, how many of them revealed their sexual orientation? To my knowledge: Neytiri, Jake Sully, Mo'at, Tsu'Tey, Eytucan. And that's it. 5 characters. Now, if you remember that 4% of people are gays, you would need to have at least 25 straight characters for every gay character (after all, you are all about being politically correct right? Well, if you have an improper ratios of gays that might insult us straights, so you wouldn't want to do that, wouldn't be very PC). Now, let me ask you this, how do you know none of the Na'vi in the movie were gay?

  13. There is a part of the movie where the big "bad guy" leans over and has a verbal exchange with an androgynous/masculine female military person. No one noticed this? She does not have a central character, but she was noticable. And.....she totally ticked off my gaydar.

  20. im twelve years old and srsly! what is this?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why does everyone have to protest about everything? Will you be protesting against all the other 2,000 premiers this year? I bet none of them will be explicitly pro-gay.

If 1% of the population is criminal, should they make films promoting criminal activities?

Anyway, I have no problem with differences in sex, color or sexual behavior, but this is ridiculous.
