Tolerance and diversity and health care are basic human rights

A society that does not celebrate, respect or tolerate all peoples is an unjust society.  That is why so many people protested against the movie Avatar on December 18, 2009

Avatar was conceived during the years of the Bush Regime, a time of despair, hate and intolerance.  The Bush Regime started two wars, banned gay marriage, and declared war on science by banning stem cell research and denying the reality of Climate Change.  People were arrested and detained without any legal reason and were tortured.

But we live in a new era. President Obama is guiding us to progress but a lot still needs to be done.  Avatar insulted that progress by presenting us with a vision of the future that ignored Evolution and had no gay or transgender characters here on Earth or on Pandora.   People don’t want that vision.  We don’t want that future.

I had to wait years to get my breast implants because the American health care system refused to cover the cost of the procedure.  That is an injustice.  I was denied my right to health care and my right to be who I am.  I was told I was "male".

President Obama is working to make sure that will not happen to people in the future.   Americans are very close to having access to health care regardless of their gender-status, racial-status or their sexual-status.  We cannot allow people of hate, the religious, the Republicans or Conservatives or any non-progressive person to deny us our rights. Gender-reassignment surgery is a right and is necessary for a progressive society to provide to all people.

This is not about stopping a movie.  This is about protecting and defending human rights.  Tolerance and diversity and health care are basic human rights.

  1. If this was not about stopping a movie, and rather about defending human rights, then you went about it in the stupidest way possible. But we'll go with the point-by-point rebuttal I've used for all of your inane drivel up to this point.

    1) Firstly, if you insist that everyone society be forced to celebrate and respect all peoples, you have successfully taken away freedom of speech and of conscience. Tolerance is one thing, and that's simply required for the smooth functioning of society. But celebration? Seriously? I'm so not about to celebrate the things that I disagree with. And you (whether you admit it or not) are the same way. Why do you disparage the religious? Or republicans? Or conservatives? Where's your "respect" and "celebration" in those cases? By not going around forcing them to stop, you tolerate them, but where's the rest of it? Clearly you don't feel the need to celebrate them, and you don't. And that's perfectly alright. That's how freedom works: you're allowed to disagree with people. You're trying to take that away and that makes you more dangerous than the people you oppose (in spirit, if not in power).

    2) If so many people protested Avatar, why aren't we hearing about it from anyone but you? So far most of the protests have been "I went with my boyfriend and we made out for a bit in the lobby, but nobody really noticed." Guess what? Nobody noticed because that's a stupid-ass-fuck way to protest. That's not getting your message out... If you want to do that, hand out flyers and pamphlets, get signs and engage with people passing by. If you see two people kissing in a movie theater, your thoughts are not going to be "oh look, they must be protesting", but rather "oh look, two people kissing in a movie theater". How about you tell us some stories about how you protested this movie?

    3) Wow... just... wow... So the movie was written while a republican was in power and that makes it hateful? I can't even fathom that. First of all, it's not even factually correct. James Cameron started developing the movie in 1994 when CLINTON was president. So you're already an idiot in that regard, but let's keep going. Other movies that were made during the Bush years? Moulin Rouge, Sugar and Spice, Adventures of Pluto Nash, Jason X, Star Wars Episodes II and III, Juno, Brokeback Mountain... just to name a few out of literally thousands. So unless you're going to say that all of these had a conservative bent to them, your argument is moot.

    4) Argh... for fuck's sake. I don't even know why I'm bothering with this evolution shit again. YOU DO NOT KNOW SHIT ALL ABOUT EVOLUTION READ A FUCKING BOOK. Dozens of people by this point have explained to you what evolution is and why we are NOT evolving to be transgendered and why, even if we were, it would NOT have happened within 150 years. But you insist on being an ignorant little twat who seems to revel in your ignorance. After all, if you were to actually bother to educate yourself, you would deprive yourself of the ONE argument you have to make. You've proven this time and time again by posting links to articles that OPPOSE you, claiming they make your point. If creating this blog didn't involve actually writing, I would swear you are illiterate. I will make this as simple as possible for you. Here is a website which explains evolution in very small words so that even you can understand it. I very strongly encourage you to read it for your own sake so that you can stop sounding like a demented monkey when you open your mouth about science. http://talkorigins.org/

    5) I was actually about to ignore your point about your breast implants because I really don't care that much about what you do with your body, but then I thought better of it. Explain to me why the public should be paying for your breast implants? I'm not even talking about the gender reassignment surgery, I'm talking about tits. How big did you get them? Since you needed implants, I assume that you're not completely flat-chested. But what the fuck does that have to do with your gender? You could've easily been a flat-chested woman. You're taking money out of the taxpayer's pockets because you want big tits. A question for you: would you support or oppose women who were born in the body of women the "right" to free breast enlargement? If not, then why the fuck do you get it for free? I know you're not going to answer this because you never do, but it would be interesting if you actually felt like responding to a point made against you.

    6) I agree that public healthcare is important, but stop glorifying President Obama. He's not perfect and has done a number of things in his short reign that you should be afraid of, not the least of which is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_Agreement).

    6) As I said before, if this is not about a movie, stop making it about the movie. At the very least, stop making it about the movie in the most stupid-ass ways imaginable. There are valid reasons to protest, and there are effective ways of doing so. Yours is just a weak facsimile of protest which fails both at a) getting your point across and b) making an impact in people. Finally, diversity is not a human right. I would say that tolerance *of* diversity is. But just because you find yourself in a non-diverse society doesn't mean that your rights are being violated. If diversity *were* a right, then the only way to enforce it would be to go around to groups of homogeneous people and say "okay, you people over here are going to be the gays, and you people over here are going to be the gays". Real diversity lets people be who they really are: if they all happen to be the same, then there's nothing wrong with that. In our world, they don't, and that's fine: we should tolerate that. But were it any different, that would be fine too, as long as we tolerated everyone else.

  3. Um you complain because you are covered to get breast implants, really? Let me explain it to you, tit jobs are cosmetic and are not necessary no matter how you feel about your body. Now say you had been denied surgery to remove a tumor, that would be different, but instead you insult anyone who needs actual surgery nice you arrogant prick. Next you say the future is trans gender, and to ignore it is to insult people, what about the people who believe in a non-transgender future, way to be intolereant of them douche nozzle.
PS, this movie in no way forces you to watch and in no way goes against your perceived rights. Next time you post this kind of arrogant crap, think twice and instead choose to go get some more unecessary cosmetic surgery which you think john public should pay for.

  5. Thank you for your post Erotic Crayons. I appreciate the time you have taken to make your points and I would be happy to address them.

    1. I am not disparaging the religious or Republicans or any non-progressive person. I am simply pointing out they are wrong and are often engaged in intolerant behavior. I would like to this to be changed. Gays, bi-sexuals and transgender people are not currently represented as they should be in society.

    2. You are not hearing about the protests from the corporate media because they were peaceful. There were no acts of violence so there is nothing they can use to boost their ratings. I will discuss my experiences on 12/18 at a later time as this is about everyone, not just me.

    3. I am simply pointing out that Avatar is the kind of film that came out during the Bush Regime years.

    4. Evolution is fact. I am not sure why there is a debate on this.

    5. I got C cups. I shouldn’t have had to pay for my breast implants anymore than someone shouldn’t have to pay for a band-aid or for spinal surgery. A progressive society takes care of people’s needs. Why would anyone want to live in a society where people are unhappy because they are denied basic needs?

    6. President Obama is the most progressive President in American history and the most intelligent.

    7. Sorry but Diversity is a human right. Everyone has the right to be who they were meant to be.

  8. There are absolutely no gays in the future because in the year 3057 gays were drunk on man-gravy, had sex with blue aliens, contracted an intergalactic form of aids and died....

    Then....

The lesbians then tried to make out with those pods from aliens because they had huge vulva-like lips as the pods opened and were quicky fed to baby aliens.....

The transgender group were then attacked by the borg and were forced to assimilate into a non-gender based machine after their genitals were ripped off by giant proton powered plastic shredders on Riga-6...

So, you see.... There is no future for gays in the year 4010 and Avatar (the computer generated 3d Mooovie is quite real).... just like those Star-Wars action figures your parents tried to throw out on your 37 birthday.....

  9. Hi Lara,

Thanks for the clarification. I appreciate your sincerity and your polite responses to sometimes rude comments. Although we probably don't agree on anything else, we can at least agree that tolerance is important. I'll definitely be checking into your blog from time to time.

Remember, Kirk and Spock were never portrayed as lovers in the original Star Trek.

  18. How is getting a tit job a basic right? Just because you WANT tits it means you have the RIGHT to getting tits surgically implanted on you for free? So by using your logic, if I were to say that I wanted a 3 foot dick that sprays hundred dollar bills when I piss, I have the right to have one surgically placed on my body free of charge? This is not about gay, straight, or tranny...this is about you being the dumbest fucker to walk the planet. Please, just stop.

  26. You apparently know nothing about politics OBama is no where near the msot progressive and most intelligent presidents. Care to expalin what millions of dollars for a stimul package will do, expecially when it didnt work teh first time, the unemplowment rate shows it. He has not done anything to decrease our debt/deficit but has in fact dug us into a deeper hole. Now people like you are bithcing and complaining becasue teh whole damn world doesnt wanna pay for your tits.

Waht you do is waht you do, wether it be gay or transgendered, or straight. But why do you expect peopel to pay for your vanity, expecially while fmaiels are going through some tough times DURING CHRSITAMS! some people actually ahve real problems in the real world. Anmd complaining about movies is not one of them.

On another note about getting teh emssage of gay rights out...

There are numerous ways you can get the message of tolerance out, somethign you are being extremely hypocritical about. Pamphlets/ newsletter are some. Encouraging people to buy such movies as brokeback mountain or Rocky horror picture show(maybe). you simply took a protests and handled it like a 12 year old by telling people to make out in theaterrs or buy tockets in bulk and not see them.

This has beens said before you did not raise awarenss but more fo teh fact pissed people off, which is something you were probably aiming for.

  27. The fact is, why do gays have any special rights at all? God hates them. Why should we condone what He hates?

  28. I would question your claim that their are no GLTBs represented in the movie. They may be there and we just don't know it. I am a gay man, came out several years ago, don't go out of my way to hide it but don't go out of my way to flaunt it either. I am proud of who I am but don't expected others to "celebrate" my personal life. We have no idea if there is or isn't a person like me in the movie. I haven't seen the movie yet but i assume the movie has nothing to do with anything of a sexual nature, or gender. Just sayin'

  39. Thinking that James Cameron has some "agenda" against the GLBT community because a GLBT character wasn't prominently featured in the movie is nothing more than looking for something to be upset about. It's not "suppressing human rights" if you don't put a spotlight on whatever community you're a part of in a piece of entertainment. The fact that there wasn't a statement made one way or another about the GLBT community is a pretty clear sign that, um, Cameron isn't a gay-hater. You want to dispute this fact? Go find actual evidence that he is, like real quotes (and remember: cited sources, or it didn't happen). Make that your big deal.

Hell, for all we know, several of the Na'vi population were homosexual or transgendered without being speaking characters. I also believe that putting a spotlight on a token gay couple or transgendered person would, in many ways, be even more disrespectful to the GLBT community -- it would smack of throwing a bone and making a big deal out of something that should be completely normal, when here I thought that the whole point of GLBT rights was to make it so normal that no one had to throw any bones.

See, this kind of thing is what's going to set us back even more than blatant shots against us, in this day and age. As a bisexual woman with several transgendered loved ones, I'm appalled that making everyone "celebrate" your sexuality and gender identity irregardless of whether it's even a part of their own lives is apparently the way to bring about "progress". It's not equality when our sexuality, gender identity, or what have you becomes more important than our humanity.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Has anybody other than me noticed how much this guy literally fails on so many levels? He's trying to raise awareness amongst society and bring down barriers against the gay community, but he's managing to do exactly the fucking opposite. If I was gay, I would want to murder you because all you do is make gay people look like ignorant communist crybaby bitches. (I know that many of them aren't, as I actually have several gay friends.) You put gays to shame. I agree with bellevoix. You should be ashamed of yourself. You need to listen to what Erotic Crayons had to say before making a complete fool of yourself on the internet again. Oh, and I'm definitely NOT a republican.

    ReplyDelete
  41. omg hahahahaha this was the perfect excuse for millions of emos upset about their "gender-confusion" to get a little attention.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ok. This might be one of the most uneducated things I have ever read. Gay and Transgender people do not exist in evolution. Here is why: a species has 2 goals: survival of the individual and survival of the species. An individual survives by eating, drinking and participating in activities that are life sustaining, so that they may in turn pro-create in order to ensure that thier species survives. A "gay" or "transgendered" person does not pro-create, they just have "sex". If they are not procreating, they are not passing on a "gay" or "transgendered" gene. Which then means that being "gay" or "transgendered" is a CHOICE, not a DNA issue. Which would then also mean that a species does not evolve to have "gay" and "transgendered" counterparts. So this movie, Avatar, is far more scientific than you deliniate above. Read a book and shut the hell up about breast implants. You made a choice to "become" a woman because you were not happy with who you are. Your fault. Not an insurance problem. Your DNA still calls you male, so thats what you are. You just spent your whole post supporting evolution and you clearly don't even know what it is. Its about DNA, and guess what, your DNA says yous a DUDE. Grow up man.

And how come the tolerance ends with religious people, Conservatives, and Republicans? You only tolerate people who agree with you? Also President Obama said he was against gay marriage. So is Hilary Clinton and John Kerry and most Democrats. It was Bill Clinton that signed the Defense of Marriage act that prohibited gay marriage and passed the Miliatry's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. Also Health care is not right. How can procedures and medicines that where not invented 50 years ago be a right today? And breast implants are also not a right. The taxpayer can't be forced to pay for your breasts. Infact if Obamacare is passed you will actually be taxed more for elective surgery to pay for healthcare. Also, President Obama is a Christian and against gay marriage. Haha.

  48. Dear Lara,

I watched the movie yesterday and I found it simply fantastic. I would suggest you to do the same.
After reading your post, I tried to reivew in my mind the movie, to see which part of the movie would support your thesis.
I can onestly say that this movie has nothing to do with transgeneder hate, and if you wnat to boicot this movie because of what you say then, you would have to boicot another hundreds of films as well.
The movie does not talk about transgender or health care simply because is deeply focused on the human instict of domination and destruction, on their hunger for explitation of the planet where they live and ultimatly to destruct themselves. Ironically, it shares Obama's point of view against human greed and Obama's ideas of clean energy much more than any other movie I ever seen this year. Futhermore, it is the first movie since I am born, where finally the main character is an invalid, teaching us that we do not need to be handsome or perfectly healty to achive something great in our life, as long as we have a great spirit inside ourselves.

Please do not deny yourself a good 3 hours of entertaiment and a good chance to see Cameron's view of our future if we continue to explit earth resources as we are doing now...

  53. OK, Im straight. Are you saying that if in every movie there was a gay, gay people feel better for that? c'on! if gay don't feel good about them self at this moment, now 2009 and coming 2010, that was there choice.

If i made a choice (me), is may problem and i have to work with that even that turn good or bad.

  54. The future......is simple unknow.

The Avatar movie I think there was no gay because is NOT about gay people, is about WAR. All war movies that i have saw, none of them have gay, why? because that is no the story or point, is simple WAR.

So, this blog, is just a empty space that is argument about something that is not in the point.

Gay marriage is banned in several states only because it was banned by the VOTERS, not Bush. In addition, Bush only banned federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, not stem cell research itself. If embryonic stem cell research is so promising, it can still be persued by someone willing to pay for it.

Uhm. Women have to pay for their breast implants to.
I could see female hormones being valid because it's Gender Identity Disorder and all but allowing you to become a woman doesn't mean you have to become a well-endowed woman.
This isn't "basic healthcare", this is a luxury, and health care does not and should not cover it, nor should it cover a non-transgendered woman's breast implants.

    You clearly know nothing.

  73. That fact that there isn't an obvious gay in the movie is a horrible argument. I am gay and saw the movie btw ;) I really dislike the stereotype that gay men are feminine or flamboyant. I am gay and am proud of myself. im just an average man living my life. i am very masculine have strait guy friends and occasionally women approach me thinking im straight. if i was in the movie you wouldn't knw i was gay. if a strait person isnt kissing the opposite sex or doing "heterosexual things" does that make them any less straight? Vica vers. Wut do you think Laura?

  79. Funny. I could've sworn Sigourney Weaver's character was gay. And the base commander? DEFINITELY! Are you kidding??
How do you know athere were no gay/lesbian charactersin the movie? There was only ONE romantic relationship depicted, and beyond that, everyone else's sexuality was IRRELEVANT TO THE STORY! That is what makes this protest ridiculous. Why didn't you protest the latest STar Trek movie? Or District 9? As far as i know neither of those depicted gays in the future either. At least I saw them both, and nothing made an impression.
This whole thing just really confuses me.

  80. Thank you for replying to my post Lara, however I still disagree with you. To respond to your specific points:

    1) Okay, but they are well within their rights of freedom of speech and thought to be intolerant. I agree that it would be nice if this were changed, but the specific argument you made in your original post was that all people (presumably including these ones) should be celebrated. Celebrated is a very strong word, and is not simply a matter of not denegrating somebody, but actively speaking out in favour of them. You have not done this, and nor should you have to. But by the same right, they should not be required to celebrate you.

    2) The news often reports on non-violent protests, such as those against Prop 8. I can't even find a mention of the protests that went down, in the entirety of the Internet, other than people talking on you blog. I find myself extremely skeptical that the turnout for such things was particularly high. Furthermore, I still stand by my points that your forms of protest are ineffective as nobody watching you will have any idea what you're protesting nor why.

    3) But just that's factually wrong. Avatar was a film that was conceived during the Clinton years and released during the Obama years. The intervening time was a combination of Clinton, Bush and Obama. But beyond that, the sitting president has nothing to do with what movies come out. There are a number of examples of progressive films that came out during the Bush years, and to ignore these is to do a disservice to the art community at large.

    4) Of course evolution is a fact. That's not my point. The issue is that your understanding of evolution is absolutely wrong. I'm sorry, but your claims are completely unsubstantiated and lack any sort of understanding of what evolution actually is. I've posted a detailed explanation of the process in several of my comments, so I won't repeat myself here. But if you could PLEASE cite a single source that says that we are evolving towards a transgendered species then you could at least begin to make your point. Seriously, just ONE source. Is that too much to ask?

    5) You completely ignored my point. Why do you need breast implants to be a woman? There are a number of women who are flat chested, so there's no argument to be made that you wouldn't be anatomically female without C-cups. What it seems to come down to is a cosmetic choice, akin to any naturally-born woman who decides to increase her cup size. So do you feel that these should be provided by the government? I don't, but I would be interested if you could state your opinion clearly.

    6) Sure, why not. I don't really care.

    7) You're missing my point. Everyone has the right to be who they were meant to be, that's absolutely true. Thus, TOLERANCE is definitely a right in that we should have to tolerate and accept them for who they are. But diversity is not a right, it's simply the state of having a lot of different kinds of people. Now, we do live in a diverse society, and it's important to be tolerant of that diversity. But to insist that the diversity itself is what's necessary is simply to ignore the meaning of the words.

I'd like to thank you again for actually responding to my points. So... thanks.

  81. Tolerance = absence of bigotry.

I can be OK with your desire to have large breasts without paying for them with my hard earned dollars. You have lost your mind.

  82. If find it fucking hilarious that in your previous post you said Obama was a homophobe and now you're praising him as the new president who will hail in the new age of tolerance.

Tolerance is here. Tolerance is had. And throwing a movie like Avatar under the bus for your own cause is nothing short of fucking pathetic.

You have no respect for the hard work that goes into a movie like that. To even think that you'd try and ride the hype and throw this movie under the bus is disgusting.

You are a martyr. You are a wannabe militant anit-hetero bigot. And you won't change shit. Not for the good, at least. Get out of my internet.

Yet more proof that you literally can't win arguments on the internet. It just makes everybody more stupid in the end. You want to shove gay in the faces of everybody, and you don't really give a shit about their freedom of choice. For someone so focused on tolerance, you are quite an intolerant person. As I said before, you are a shame to gays of the world and the GLBT. You need to get some therapy and get the hell off the internet before you piss off the wrong e-thug.

  89. I think my head just exploded at the stupidity of this post.

You complain of the lack of homosexuality but they don't get into sexuality at all in the movie until much later on which is only between two characters.

Public health care should not pay for your breast implants it is not a neccessary surgery therefore you don't deserve to get it for free.

I'm completely fine with the whole LGBT movement but people like you really ruin it for everyone. Please shut up. Just because there are no homosexuals or transexuals in a movie does not mean it hates homosexuals or transexuals.

Evolution is still a theory. It is not a fact. I'm an atheist myself but evolution has yet to be completely proven.

  90. Hello Erotic Crayons,

Thank you for your post and I will do my best to answer your questions!

    1) June is Gay Pride Month but why only June? We should be celebrating our diversity all the time and if people think June is the only time to celebrate or examine Gay Culture then there may be indifference the remaining 11 months. I don’t think hate takes a holiday and the best way to deal with hate and intolerance is to be loud and proud all year long.

    2) I just don’t think the corporate media is interested. They keep talking about how money Avatar has made.

    3) “Avatar was a film that was conceived during the Clinton years and released during the Obama years“ Maybe but it feels like a Bush film with all the focus on military-style violence and the obligatory boy/girl storyline. With President Obama, I would like Americans to be more sophisticated.

    4) It is intolerant to say that my claims are completely unsubstantiated and lack any sort of understanding of what Evolution actually is. I know what Evolution is. I have spoken to friends and heard from experts who have confirmed that humanity will be transgender.

    5) Don’t most women have breasts? I was born without them and I realized they were missing from me. I needed to evolve from a “boy” to being a Transgender who could appeal to all sexes and non-genders. I was a cocoon and from it I became a new butterfly. I wish this for everyone.

  96. How does that analogy even make the remotest of sense? Dude, you really really need to stop making these inane, nonsensical, childish analogies. Nobody cut off your breasts. And guess what, you do NOT need breasts. And that guy doesn't even need legs you idiot! And legs are shared by men and women. All humans need legs in order to be mobile. He needs medical attention because he was BADLY INJURED! How exactly were you injured? You never had breasts and you do NOT need them. I don't even know why I'm bothering with you. You are the most narrow-minded thick-headed jackass on the face of the earth. You are the gay liberal version of Bill O'Reilly. Republicans hate you, Democrats hate you, gays hate you, the religious hate you, the non religious hate you, and just about everybody else that accidentally stumbles onto the train accidents that you call your blogs. I hope you get anal prolapse.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Seeing this has really open my eyes on a lot of things. If your not willing to accept gays whether bi or tranny youll have to kill them. So for those who havent killed one you have accepted them. Now dont get me wrong im not saying you should go out and find yourself a gay to butcher. im just saying if you havent killed any you are going to find out that you have accepted them. Now for all who are religious people, christians of course you will know that God loves is people but hate their sinful ways. If you go in the bible and find the story about the city Soddom & Gomorrah that was destroyed by God due to mans sinful ways at that time. Now what were those sinful ways? please I implore you to read the story. So people let us as christians no matter the denomination judge each other and also we should not indulge in sinful activities. What about those who arent religious? hmm now you people are some tricky people to convince but lets put it this way. We as a people no matter the race white asian black yellow red all have rights as human beings. The main right is to live. No man should decide who lives or die. Also no one should also shove their ideals down our throat and expect every one to accept it. Lara it is my right to refuse your ideals. It is your right, to refuse or accept what I have to say. Where I am in Jamaica right now we are being called the most homophobic place in the world which is not true. Ask any Jamaican if he or she knows a gay person they will (if being true to themselves) tell you yes. Now ask them if they have ever once laid a finger on a gay member that would cause them to be in trouble with the law. My point is this people. Gays are becoming more and more demanding these days and Straight people are becoming more and more tolerable to these people. Please lets face it Some things that gays demand from us as a heterosexual world are becoming too much. And this Lara is too much

  98. Erotic crayons, you need to GTFO of here. We have no place for your logic destoying our factually incorrect generalizations!

Seriously, this is just retarded. Anyone who expects there to be a member of every race, religion, gender, and sexuallity in every movie is just an idiot.

The biggest flaw, and the one that shines past your ignorant political ideas and that you cant even comprehend that the movie has a strong anti-bush message, is that you have absolutely no knowledge of evolution. Lara has just completely ignored the fact that if EVERYONE was gay lesbian transgendered or whatever your "futuristic" or "sophisticated" society is, nobody would reproduce, and in approximately 100 years, there would be no more people. Evolution skips out on gays because they do not contribute to the gene pool.

Darwinism at work here is that you will never have children with your stupid shit ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I am gay. That said, you make all of us look bad. GTFO you idiotic moron.

  100. Gay marriage, or "gay rights" is a state issue. that means that each STATE decides whether or not they will allow a homosexual marriage to be recognized or not. So even if the Federal Gov't signs something into federal law allowing gay marriage, each state can refuse to recognize it. FACT.
Also as far as "gay rights" go, no matter what your sexual orientation is, you are protected by the same laws as everyone else and you are given the same promises in the Constitution regardless of sexual orientation, ethnicity or religion. The only stipulation is that you have to be an American citizen to be protected.
It Sounds like you want gays to be held superior to everyone else. And frankly my dear you just aren't that special.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think you are beautiful Lara and I want to make love to you. I want you to seduce me.

    ReplyDelete
  102. To point out yet another obviously flaw in your logic, health care and tolerance are not human rights. "human" rights or unalienable rights are that of life, liberty, and property.

You cant just say "i have a human right to healthcare", because it just makes you look uneducated. Because if you have a right to healthcare, why not a right to a nice car? a well paying job? Lots of good friends? A big house? Do you see my point? You dont have a right to healthcare or tolerance.

Tolerance is a first amendment issue. You say any government that does not celebrate everyone is unjust. It isnt. A goverment that tries to control thoughts is.

So you need to stop being so self righteous. Just because some people are different doesnt mean you have a right to healthcare, tolerance, or being represented in a god damn movie. get over yourself.

Of course, you will ignore or delete this post because you wont have anything to say to it.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Hi again Lara,

I think I can just agree to disagree on 1), 2) and 3). That being said...

    4) If you're saying it's intolerant for me to try and open your eyes regarding what evolution actually is, then I guess that's what I am, though I disagree with your labeling. But at this moment, your claims are unsubstantiated by your lack of citing a source. It's great for you that you've talked to experts who say that humanity will become transgendered, but I haven't. Why not give me the benefit of the doubt and point me in the direction of some of their peer-reviewed research in this area so that I can become as enlightened as you. Until that point, I will stick with the version of evolution that I have learned from science which states that the most efficient way to propagate a species is to make lots of babies in the most efficient way possible (heterosexual intercourse). All I'm asking for on this one is a source.

    5) Don't most women have long hair? Does this make bald women any less female? I think we could agree that it doesn't. Similarly, women with flat chests are still women, so I still fail to understand why you needed breast implants to become fully female. On the other hand, if you wanted them for cosmetic reasons, I can understand that but then I don't think the government should pay for them.

5.1) I think I may have just realized where the problem is on the evolution debate. You seem to be using it in a very general sense, synonymous with the word "change". But evolution is a much more complicated biological process than just any sort of change. You didn't "evolve" from being physically male to being transgendered, you were surgically altered. This isn't evolution, it's medicine.

5.2) I find your statement that you "wish this for everyone" confusing. Do you mean specifically transgenderism or do you mean simply embracing who they are inside? If it's the latter, then I can totally get behind it. But if you mean that you wish everyone to be transgendered then that's actually quite bigoted and doesn't celebrate or promote any sort of diversity nor tolerance for those who are, say, happy with the body they were born in.

  104. Hi Lara,

First I want to say that I think this blog and what you are doing is very interesting and very wonderful. I've always felt that society has to move in a unisex direction. Things are much too-gendered focus as they are now. Having people wear unisex clothes would be a positive step in that direction. This would be very helpful to young people who are forced by society or by their peers to choose a gender.

  105. I'm a fat man. I have man boobs. I feel someone should pay to have them removed because I need it. No I deal with the cards I was dealt. So what if your not perfect. I don't want my money to pay for that. If you want it done, fine, use your own money.

  110. Thanks for making my day, for the dumbest blog post in the dumbest blog I have ever seen. You're trying to ban Avatar just because it has no homosexuals in a FICTIONAL world? LMAO. What education in common sense did you receive, none? From your logic, I'd like to see you parade around and ban the 92,482 other movies that features no homosexuals. Oh and while you're doing that, you might want to attack other sources of media too because "no homosexuals" are represented in them, including McDonald's ads, the news, album ads, or perhaps any book that does not feature a dozen homosexuals.
    Get a life, ffs.

"If you were in a car accident and if your legs were badly damaged or lost would you not want medical care to heal them or replace them? You would needs legs. I needed breasts."

Are you kidding me? You didn't NEED breasts, they weren't going to save your life and were not medically nessacery to make you healthy. you WANTED breasts. Yes perhaps it would make you feel better and more like yourself, but they weren't a medical neccesity and shouldn't be covered by health care.

Diseases, injuries, birth defects those are things to be covered by health care. And no you being born male is not a birth defect its just your shitty luck. Tits are cosmetic surgery and therefor not covered by healthcare because its something you want but don't actually need.

But what about the people that are comfortable being the gendar they were born as? you want them to wear unisex clothing and take away their individuality? Make us all the same? What about our diversity. What if I want to parade around in a short skirt and showing off my clevage, I shouldn't have to conform to your idea that we should all be gender nuetral because some of us don't want that. Equality between the genders yes, but for gods sake let us keep the individuality of each gender including those that are inbetween. It wouldn't be a positive step it would be a step towards making us all the same, making everyone a clone of the next person. Men and women don't have to be unisex to be equal. 121. Look, Avatar doesn't bash gays and it doesn't promote anything sexual - it's a goddamn FANTASY movie. You know nothing about earth at all in Avatar other than the fact we'd grown very advanced and we'd apparently killed all the life on the planet (as Jake mentions during his prayer to Eywa). The fact that a HANDFUL of humans from a population of potentially billions aren't gay or transgender is pretty accurate as statistics go.

Why pick on Avatar? There are billions of movies out there that don't have any gay or transgender people in it - why pick on one of the best films ever made?

James Cameron is not on a vendetta to oppress you guys.

You want a movie that goes down in history yet has a voice? Did you forget about RENT. It had every range of characters, straight, gay, transgender, etc.

It seems that what you wanted Avatar to be is a gay propaganda film. Propaganda isn't the way to go. I'm all for tolerance, but quit shoving your beliefs down everyones' throats. REAL tolerance comes at ones own free will.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Ok, even if your transgender evolution theory is true, there's one HUGE problem with it. Avatar is set about 150 years from the present, nowhere near enough time for a species to make an evolutionary step that drastic. If you or your "experts" knew anything, anything about evolution, you would understand that it takes millions of years for these changes to occur. Also, movies DO NOT need to have every kind of minority in them. There were no black people in Lord of the Rings. Do you see activists for african-american rights calling Peter Jackson a bigot? No, because they are level-headed enough to understand its just a work of creativity. I have red hair, and therefore am a minority. There are no red heads in I, Robot. Am i going to protest this movie and say it segragating? Of course not. Just because every single minority group isn't represented does not mean something is evil. If you want to see where this kind of thinking will take us, read the book Fahrenheight 451, i think it might open your eyes.

  123. Wow, what is wrong with people here? Everybody know that in the future there will be more butch lesbian dykes and queer-boy fairy fags! Before Rosie O'Donnel dies she's gonna explode and she release millions of gay spores into the air.

That movie was amazing because James Cameron made it happen. He didn't sit around and expect everything to be free and cry about it when it wasn't, he did work. So fuck you Lara or whatever your real name is because that definitely isn't it. Just live with the fact that you are a dude and that is all you will ever be. i have alot of gay, lesbian and transgender friends, i am a straight man myself comfortable with my body, and i also dont live in the U.S. of A, but even here in Australia i think if health care paid for transgenders breast implants then they would be WAISTING money on something that could go to a much better use IE a cure for cancer or working towards creating a better cleaner renewable energy source. I'm not trying to take the piss out of you but are you fucking serious, the points you made in all of your comments have either been wrong or intorrent towards straight people. There would be an uproar from the gay community if there was a "Straight Pride Month". honestly, i think you were just teased as a child for being gay and in "the wrong body" and are now using that agression and hatedred for straight people to bag a fantastic movie. did you want the movie to go for another hour and have each and every character step forward and tell you there sexuallity?

  128. A "Straight Pride Month" would be no different from a "White Pride Month". It would be offensive.

  129. I thank you for your opinion but I disagree. Breast implants and all forms of gender-reassignment surgery IS health care and will now be covered with universal health care.

  130. Wait, so you're pissed that the government won't give you fake tits, while thousands are dying of actual diseases?

  131. That is a crude way of putting it. Government has a responsibility to take care of people.

  132. Avatar was a great movie. Just to let you know, in the year 2031; fag DNA was eliminated from the Universe. That's why you don't see it in the movie.

  136. Listen, the government is suppose to take care of all and any health problems of the people, it is our born right to get free government health care.. If a parent turned their son or new born boy to be a girl, the government is the one that should take care of the health bill, because families shouldn't be burdened with the cost that the procedure will take. While I'm talking about this, I do think the government should pay for my breast implants. The lack of breasts were hurting psychologically because it didn't make me feel like who I really was inside, I beautiful woman. I made me feel displaced and confused. But since I've had my beautiful large breast implanted I've felt much better. Now all there's left to do is to remove my penis making me fully a woman. And I do think that government should pay for that surgery too.

  137. He actually came up with the idea 9-15 years ago. so.....

    your argument is invalid.

  138. Do you realize that many transgendered women don't get breast implants ? It's not a guaranteed right and having huge breasts doesn't make you more of a woman.

  139. The bush regime? It was so utterly terrible wasn't it? You guys need to realize how stupid you are. Bush was one of the most beloved presidents to the african people because he sent them the most aid of any president. He also delt with the 911 attacks in the best way possible protecting us from worse attacks...

  140. none of this makes any sense.

Even if you're convinced that you somehow "deserve" breast implants because the government should take care of you, don't you know there simply isn't enough money for this? Millions of people in this country are suffering financially because of diseases and conditions they can't afford to pay all of the treatments for. If the government should pay for your breasts, what else should they pay for? Maybe you should just sit at home and have the government pay for everything? I'm not insulting governement aid or welfare for those who need it, I think that's great, but according to your logic of how a governement should "take care of people" by paying for whatever htey want, where does it stop?

Also, you talk about intolerance and hatred in regards to anyone who disagrees with you, but as many others have said, you disagree with conservatives and many other groups. Why the double standard? How come you can disagree without it being hateful, but they can't?

  141. Considering your "evolution" belief. Tell me how exactly are we going to evolve to the point where females can impregnate males. And males gain ovaries to facilitate that.
That because we are transgender we hold both sets of 23 chromosones. And if we are harbouring all 47 chromosones, and we have both facilities to impregnate and and be impregnated, we would be effectively asexual.

So you believe asexuality is a way of the future?
That we will have to masturbate with condoms because we might get ourselves pregnant?
That we will be indanger of becoming pregrant thanks to wet dreams.

Do you really think this is where evolution is going?

And not to mention you want breasts? Biologically you wont be able to breast feed with your male implanted prosthetic breasts. So your only concern is that superficially you look transgender, which means that there is no actually functionality of it.

    I await your response.

  144. Lara, you are truly misguided and your views are scary. Unfortunately people like you are more like a cancer on society. Until we find a cure, we'll just have to deal with it for a while. Frankly I won't waste much of my time on most of your topics but the fact that you sincerely think that society should buy you a breast augmentation... huh? How old are you? Why don't you get an education, a job, and contribute like those of us who work for what we want? Did it ever cross your mind and all the other liberal free-loaders in this country to assume personal responsibility? You should hope that people like you don't become the majority because then there won't be enough of us working folks to support you.
