People reject Avatar and go instead with the male friendship of Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes celebrates inclusiveness and male homo-erotic friendship.  It is now the number one film above Avatar because it is the opposite of Avatar in theme and message.  By rejecting Avatar, hate and intolerance is rejected:

Here is Christmas box office TOP 10

2. Avatar (Fox) Week 2 - Cume $160.7M

  1. I'm just curious if you realize that in the time period that Avatar takes place in, we will in fact not have evolved into transgenders as a species. Evolution takes waaaaaay longer than that. Maybe in a few million years. Also, you complain that no gays are represented in it. Well, I'm African American, and I can't seem to remember any leading characters of my race in it. Funny thing is though, that doesn't bother me because I realize that Avatar was made to entertain and bring in money, not convert people into heterosexuals. Also, I've never felt more masculine and straight than when watching Sherlock Holmes. Perhaps if you were to ACTUALLY WATCH IT,you would realize that there are no homo-erotic tones to it. But that would actually require thinking on your part wouldn't it?

  2. I thank you for your opinion but I disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  3. And it's Cameron's movie, purely made for entertainment.
Not a documentation of your life histories, dumbasses.

  4. I am deeply saddened that you are fighting this way. I understand you are trying to make a point, but this way will not win you friends.

  5. Okay, so I haven't seen Sherlock Holmes so I could be completely off base here... But isn't Rachel McAdams Holmes' love interest in the movie? In a heterosexual romance? And to Holmes and Watson actually have a sexual relationship or are you just reading things into the fact that it's two men who are good friends?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I am afraid you have completely lost your mind, and you are as delusional and deranged as Fred Phelps and the WBC nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  7. So I can't be friends with girls because of the sexual tension, and now it seems that I can't be friends with guys because of the homo erotic tension. So I can't have friends? Fuck I hate being a person!

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's pretty well established now that Holmes and Watson are homosexual lovers.

  9. Are you kidding me you freak? this is so stupid... And i love sherlock holmes, it was awesome, why are you insulting the movie by saying it suggests male homo-erotic friendship? freak.

  10. What a loser.. even people who have visited this dumm blog voted that they wont protest against avatar. get a life, you freak.

  11. Look, I'll tell you my problem with Avatar: NO VIN DIESEL. I don't care about this tranny gay shit but how can you make a movie like this without Vin Diesel???

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hmm... I'm still pondering if this is a joke or not, has it been revealed as one on another page but I'm too lazy to scan through the mountains of comments I wonder?
Anyway, I really feel like stating my point joke or not, since it's always fun to do so. :)
Basically, I have NO idea why this was created, if you say it's because it's set in the future and the idea of a stright future is homophobic then calm down people, just because the main characters are gay doesn't mean that random character24 isn't. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they don't exsist, silly goose. If it's because you feel there should be a homosexual lead or supporting character to somehow show off the fact that homosexuals exsist then that's just plain stupid. I'm sorry but there are just as many straight people out there and while I'm not saying gays can't be in movies, I AM saying that this ONE movie didn't happen to have an openly gay character come foward, big whoop. Now, if you are concered because Jake has a realationship with Neytiri, an alien, then I have to say that both characters are humanoids. Look back a Star Trek my friend, the Captain slept with so many obviously non-human women, and so it is not like beastialty in my opinion, not to mention they were interacting both as Na'vi for the majority of the movie(pysically) and Jake eventually made the change permanent.
I could go on longer, but I'm tired and this seems very much like a joke, I hope I said what a lot of people were thinking though. Oh, and excuse any typos, it's late, and I'm not going to spellcheck a rant to some idiot over the web and this hour.

  13. You're only succeeding in pissing us off.

    ReplyDelete
  14. So why aren't you protesting against 95%+ of all the movies out there?

    ReplyDelete
  15. As a gay woman, I have no problem saying you are part of the problem, not the solution. These types of nonsense protests are the reason many do not take us seriously.

Also, you claimed that this protest was the reason for lower than expected box office numbers last weekend -- Hello, there was a friggin' snow storm that impacted nearly half of the country!

Quit making problems where there are none.

    ReplyDelete
  16. We should keep protesting because there are still too many bigots who refuse to accept gay rights.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I really do not understand these people who oppose the protest. If African-Americans did not protest for their rights, they would have no rights today. Why can't gays and transgenders do the same?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sherlock Homes is a better movie than Avatar. This movie actually promotes us to have our own homo-erotic friend in which we can rely on. Avatar does no represent that. The captain from Star Trek probably did sleep with a lot of women of other species, but that was in the past when we gays were not given any right and had to hide who they were for fear of persecution. Our society has moved on a bit that they should be able to make movie that show homosexual relationships in the future.

The relationship that Homes and Watson had in the movie is what the future will be like. Where GLBT can express their love for each other openly and not have to hide their relationship behind a false marriage(which is what Watson was doing in the movie.)

  21. Avatar was unbelievable but there is a book called “Meg” which would make one hell of a movie. It could be a giant blockbuster if done correctly. Curious if anyone’s has checked out the new book “Hell’s Aquarium” by Steve Alten? I know he’s been a best selling author before, but wanted to see if anyone had read this book first? It’s about the ancient prehistoric shark Megalodon, which makes the current Great White Shark look like a gold fish. Check out the trailer below, pretty awesome:

  25. All the Right MovesDecember 28, 2009 at 9:25 PM

A Warner Bros. Exec. told me last week that the Christian Right threatened to sue if "Sherlock Holmes" was released with its intened "R" rating for a scene involving a little Jr. on Jude action. As we all know by now, the scene was cut and the film got a "PG-13". How long are we gonna let those idealogues control our mass-produced entertainment? I say, "BRING ON THE DIRECTOR'S CUT!!!" Everyone knows Guy rhymes with gay anyway. Let the man's homo-film be seen as intended!

    I hope there's a sequel, "Sherlock Bones!"

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is so stupid. I believe based on scientific information (X-Men comics) that humans will evolve to have special abilities. I mean...the science is right there. You don't see me protesting this movie.

I know, my argument is silly, but this is bascially what I hear.

Even if science predicts this will happen, no one knows. Science said we'd be living in space in the year 2000 and here it is 2010 and we haven't even landed humans on Mars. Science can't predict to the year 2154, which the movie takes place in, so making things up is perfectly acceptable because we just don't know. If they're wrong...who cares? It's just a movie.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Do you ever feel ashamed at making the rest of us look bad? I'm just curious.

And there's plenty of other ways to ask for equal rights (and I do mean equal, not SPECIAL). Like, I don't know, voting supportively on bills and laws that actually matter? Taking up bill-writing and other legally significant forms of progression. I may be grasping at straws here but somehow those seem more important than making sure someone else's story conforms to your ideas.

Now don't get my wrong. I love me some gay boys. I love writing about their relations. I'm in the process of writing out my most beloved story, one between a boy and his boy, and I get to mix in all sorts of fun things like dragons. And if some crack-pot like you came in and told me I had to change the story to fit their ideas, to change what the story was and meant to me... I am sorry, but I would punch them in the face as hard as I could. Why would I want to tell someone else they had to change their ideas? As a writer, I would feel awful doing that. Why should they?

    You're protesting something that has no real life relevence. It's someone else's story, someone else's imagination. If you want something else, then pick up your pen and paper. If you want something else, that's cool with me and I'll encourage the your creation of such things, but please don't force your ideas on the creations of others. If your parents didn't teach you the golden rule then I'm sorry for you and I will do my best now;
"Treat others how you would like to be treated."

And let's face it, you wouldn't want to be forced to change something you had created, something that you had fallen in love with in your mind. Don't force that on others.

You don't progress by destroying. You progress by creating.

  28. For the record:
"After 10 days of being released, Avatar has come to gross $212,711,184 in the United States and Canada and $410,864,537 in other territories with a worldwide total of $623,575,721."

    Producing it: $232 million
    Marketing it: $150 million
Escaping to a completely different world full of bioluminescence, dragons, and hammer-headed rhinos.... Priceless.
And let's face it. That's what the movie was really about. Shiny things.

By the way, your choice in movies to protest is pretty poor. You picked Avatar because it's the best movie on the market and you'd get more attention from the frillions of people who are flocking to see it, not because it doesn't have LGBT couples in it. Because if the latter was truly the reason, you'd be protesting every movie that comes out w/o an LGBT representation.

  29. People aren't "rejecting" Avatar. Everyone went and saw Avatar opening week and are now seeing the next big movie.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey Lara bitchface, you just lost one of the polls you set up [FACT]. Seems no one wants to see gay, genderless, bi-sexual, etc. relationship in Avatar. The relationship in the movie was just fine the was it is.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have to giggle that your link now says that while Holmes looked to be beating Avatar Friday, it blew it out of the water Saturday and Sunday. On it's SECOND WEEKEND while Holmes was an opening weekend gig.

Numbers don't lie! Avatar fucking rocks everyone's socks. Just let it be... Enjoy the entire three hours of scenery porn for what it is... some kickin' special effects and a Man vs. Nature all-out war. It's not hurting you or bashing gays. There's plenty of other movies that do, go bother them.

    ReplyDelete
  32. and by the above, I mean Avatar blew Holmes out of the water. FYI.

    ReplyDelete
  33. How is Holmes a homosexual movie when Sherlock is obviously in a relationship with a women as is Watson?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I liked Holmes alot more than Avatar. Guy Richie is a far better director than Cameron(Snatch rules). I mean its work with supporting characters like dirge was great and reminded me of classic bond movies.

I don't really care about the sexuality issues of either movie. I just hate Avatar for being and awful pice of garbage not fit to for human viewing and am more than willing to help others who have bigger issues with the film than that.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lara is a successful troll you managed to garner much attention through a successful movie. Good job. I praise your efforts in trying to promote the equality of transgenders and homosexuals but condemning a movie is not the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  36. apparently the sexual preferences in sherlock holmes are what made the movie better than avatar...

are you an idiot? (the answer is yes)

  37. I want to have heterosexual intercorse with Neytiri

  38. You guys are a bunch of fags. Get over yourselves its a fucking movie! Do i watch MILK and protest that its about a faggot no!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ok, Holmes and Watson are friends, if you don't know it everyone has friends, if you don't then shame on you, Holme's love interest is Rachel, a woman, therefore it's a heterosexual relationship, you are just being stupid here

    ReplyDelete
  40. How do you know that Holmes is only having a "relationship" with Rachel in order to conform to the strict and oppressive mores of Victorian society?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Prolly because its a story and you are reading FAR to much into things.

    ReplyDelete
  42. To the gay anti avatar community:

You do realize you are only hurting your cause right? If you want equality and acceptance, you're doing it wrong. Even me, who is all for gay rights, thinks you [FEW SELECTIVE] gay people are being over sensitive and fucking stupid.
Please stop if you want the rest of the world to take you seriously. It isnt fair either because you are making the rest of the sane gay community look bad.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Lara, by the time this evolution happens, you will be well and truely dead. now shut your legs, your breath stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Okay so apparently gays don't think that Christians should protest even though they're protesting I'm confused how about straight people protest gay people we out number them so if there was a war we would win :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. ...Watson, though being Holmes' friend (ONLY friend) ...is also massively annoyed with him, and oh, yeah, MARRYING a woman. Which, by the end of the movie, Holmes BLESSES the union by replacing their ENGAGEMENT RING.

Homoerotic? No. Just real friends. Homoeroticism has nothing to do with having a close friend of the same gender! (It CAN, but is not necessary or relevant)
    Hell.
If you want to push it that far, then the Commander in AVATAR had the gay hots for Jake by being an overbearing commando and trying to force Jake to do his bidding.
And Grace was a pedophile for being so involved with the Na'vi children.
And Norm was just a nerd.

    ReplyDelete
  46. urm...avatar has made 720 million dollars....so yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  47. and sherlock holmes DOES NOT promote homo erotic relationships between men. you're just getting that from it BECAUSE YOURE MESSED UP.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Alrighty this blog is seriously bothering so I guess here is as good as any to start.

First off: First commenter African American's make up most if not all of the avatar voice over's. This is just an FYI. Not trying to claim this makes the head count okay, and I'm glad to hear you aren't offended, it's because you're a sensible person.

Second: LGBT people who are against the starter of this protest, and think he/she makes you look bad. While he/she (sorry haven't read enough to know how he/she identifies) Don't worry, most intelligent people in the world can overlook the loony's and the bigots wont change anyway.

Third: You who is reasponsible for this retarded protest.
A: Evolution is a factor of surival through small mutations that work, and promote sexual reproduction, takes many many years. Avatar is set in 2154 (I think might be 2153) one hundred and fifty years is not enough time for anything to change. And this idea of transgender being constructive to survial is just plan silly. If you are suggesting that human behavior will change, fine maybe but not likely kind of dumb. Many people our happy with the bodies they are given by nature. That doesn't mean we don't feel for you, or believe that you were dealt a short stick, but still we are just fine the way we are.
B: Your whole attack on avatar is just stupid. Because avatar did not include homosexuality, or transgender in it's plot doesn't mean it's against you. The movie is against human ignorance, which really is a bigger issue than LGBT rights anyway, as it's also about the right of any sentient being. Also, avatar most likely avoided the LGBT issues to be considered least objectional programming. Which is a fancy way of saying trying to be unoffensive. If you want to see some good films on LGBT I reccomend "Boy's don't cry" and "But I'm a Cheerleader"

  49. The new year began at the movies the way the old one ended: with James Cameron ruling the box office. The director's sci-fi opus Avatar remained atop the box office for the third straight weekend, raking in $68.3 million, according to studio estimates from Nielsen EDI. The $300 million film has done $352.1 million domestically and nearly $500 million overseas, ensuring the film will be profitable for distributor 20th Century Fox. The question now is how high Avatar flies.

  54. I dont know WTF are you talking about, Avatar is number for three straight weeks, Sherlock not even for a single day topped Avatar

    so stop lying

and your views on Sherlock are also dead wrong

    ReplyDelete
  55. This MUST be a joke topic, right? I'm all for equal gay rights and all. Many of my best friends over the years have been gay. I'm also in favour of a LOT of other things as well. But I don't expect ALL of those things to be represented in EVERY movie just because they are things I believe.

Sometimes a movie is JUST meant to entertain. Yes, there is a strong political message in Avatar but it's not saying ANYTHING about gays. So if it's not insulting you, how can you POSSIBLY take offence if your not insane, lying, or joking?

    ReplyDelete
  56. ohhh my god.. this is surely a joke.. cause honest to god if anyone here is serious you need help!!! the movie is not saying anything against gays.... i mean... if you though that every movie that doesnt have a gay sex scene in it is against gays then there are alot of fucking movies in the world that you have an issue with.. seriously people just cause your gay does not mean everything has to be about you... no one cares your gay.. do what you like.. but really.. by making an issue out of this you are making yourselves a joke..

Uh...Robert Downey Jr. joked about hinting towards a gay relationship between the characters in the next film and the holder of the estate for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (the guy who created Sherlock Holmes) was outraged about it and didn't want a sequel being made if that were the case. I seriously doubt you'll see anything concrete. Any gay relationship in the film will only be imagined by your perverted mind.

We look down on you because you get offended at really stupid things. Which is why I call you a fag and look down on you. =) I love my uncle to death. He is gay. His Hubby is awsome! I love them both to death. I concider them gay. Not fags.

Now the fags that are crying need to go back in the closet untill they see a fit time that they will be "Accepted" to their standards and shut the hell up. =)

Avatar was a great movie. Sherlock was decent. Avatar wouldent be right is it had a homosexual scean in it. Why? because thats not the STORY. Now what is a story? Hmm... A work of FICTION. What is a Fiction? FAKE. Not real fake.

As for humans evolving in to more homo or trans gender like. Not gona happen. Maybe we will become more like frogs. Being able to change sex in a SINGLE sex enviorment. But wait... Thats not what you want. I guess you lose. =)

There is nothing wrong with anything going on anywhere. Save your words for people that give a crap. Bashing a FICTIONAL MOVIE is not the way to go. Change does come with building and understanding. Not Fighting and beating people who arnt like you. Isnt that what your trying to stop? So why do it yourself...

You seem to have missed how Watson was getting married to a knockout woman and was always thinking about her. Sherlock himself is a ladies man who is persuing a female criminal of great repute. Homosexuals are becoming accepted, but remain a extreme minority in this country. Transgender individuals are an even sharper minority whose agendas often border on demanding people accept their culture over their own. You are a radical and just as ignorant as the people you are fighting against, if not moreso. Go away.
